A.G. Ford Visits the Bishop Walker School
A.G. Ford, award winning illustrator, visited the Upper Primary School on Friday, November 7. Mr. Ford shared his recent work Desmond and the Very Mean Word, which was written by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Douglas Carlton Abrams. In addition to reading the book, he showed the students the step-by-step process he uses when illustrating pictures. The students were able to see the development of his illustrations from initial, rough sketches and photographs to the beautiful, finished product that made up the book.

An Open Book Foundation, founded by Dara D. La Porte and Heidi W. Powell, made this remarkable event possible. The foundation also provided an autographed copy of Mr. Ford's book to each student in 2nd-5th grade. The boys loved having the opportunity to meet him and speak to him one-on-one.
